Title: Rare 1852 Tinted Lithograph of Topkapi Palace and the Bosphorus, Istanbul by L. Haghe after Fossati and Gayer

Description: This tinted lithograph presents a striking view of Topkapi Palace, Istanbul’s historic imperial residence, overlooking the Bosphorus and the Sea of Marmara. Produced in 1852 by master lithographer L. Haghe after designs by Fossati and Gayer, it was published by Day & Son for Colnaghi, London. The composition highlights the Ottoman Empire's architectural legacy, with fortified walls, historic buildings, and serene waters framing the scene. The mounted Arabic title enhances its cultural significance, offering a rare glimpse into mid-19th century Istanbul’s grandeur.

Condition report: Slight browning and scattered foxing, mainly on the wide white margins. The central illustration is well-preserved, with sharp details and vibrant tones.

Framing tip: Opt for archival matting with UV-protective glass to protect its historical integrity. A dark mat paired with a gold or bronze-toned frame will enhance its vintage appeal, focusing attention on the breathtaking details of the lithograph.
