Faneuil Hall in Boston, an original steel engraving after W.H. Bartlett, engraved by H. Griffiths and published in London for the proprietors by Geo. Virtue, about 1860. The sheet carries a multilingual title: "Faneuiel Hall, Boston" with the French, German and Dutch versions below, among them "Het oude Huis van Faneuil te Boston."

The view looks across the market square at the red-brick hall with its pedimented front, rows of arched windows and a cupola on the roof topped by a weathervane. At the left an old gabled timber house with a steep roof, tall chimney and shop front closes the corner, and a horse-drawn carriage with passengers moves through the street. Pedestrians in top hats and long skirts stand in the foreground, with a market stall and awning on the right and more figures along the street. The plate is engraved in steel with soft tones of gray and an open sky.

Faneuil Hall was the meeting place and market hall of Boston, and Bartlett's views were produced for illustrated books of American scenery.
